So I was explaining what shipping is to my 7 year old brother

  1. me: A ship is a pairing, usually romantic. If you ship something, you like that pairing. The name of a ship is created by combining the two characters' names together. Get it?
  2. my brother: Yeah...
  3. me: Okay, take Avatar: the Last Airbender, right? I like Zuko and Katara together. I ship them. Then, to get the ship name-- Zuko + Katara = Zutara! Make sense?
  4. my brother: Yeah but wait...What if I ship Zuko--and Aang? ...Zukaang? It's not a girl and a boy. Is that--is that okay?
  5. me: *CRIES* OF COURSE THAT'S OKAY
